Both the efficient investigation of criminal cases and the subsequent conviction of criminals
depend heavily on the property and evidence room. Operations or paperwork errors may
make evidence inadmissible, resulting in the case being lost or dismissed.
A fundamental overview of the legal and ethical criteria for a competent evidence/property
management system is provided by this course for small to mid-size organizations.
Participants are invited to share suggestions to enhance the property management system
at their agency and will become familiar with the procedures and duties involved in
operating a property room setting.
Tasks and responsibilities covered in this class:
· Discuss management theories, events, and trends related to property room
management.
· Describe ideal room layouts and management approaches. Identify common property
room problems and solutions.
· Develop policies and procedures.
· Ensure proper packaging and security of evidence and property.
· Properly document evidence and property.
· Remove unnecessary items from systems and dispose of them.
· Conduct audits and inventories of property rooms.
