Photo Contest Entry Rules

Participants must include the following information on the 8.5" X 11" photo contest entry label (provided upon registration) along with their entries:

          Camera Model, Lens Model, Focal Length, Filter(s), ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed, Post Processing Techniques, etc. 

All entries must be brought to the Conference Registration desk no later than Monday, September 21st at 10 am.

Creative

The theme for the 2026 Photo Contest is "What is Jersey Known For?". This category can include any subject matter relevant to the selected theme. Basic post-processing is permitted but note that the judging will be based on photographic expertise and excellence. If any post-processing is applied, you must provide a copy of the original image on your entry form and an explanation of your adjustments.  

Forensic

This category can include forensic crime scenes or evidentiary casework, research, or training photographs. Limited post-processing is permitted to demonstrate standard clarification techniques. Be sure to provide a copy of the original on your submission form along with an explanation of any post-processing efforts.

NJIAI PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST - RULES AND GUIDELINES

• Participants MUST be a registered attendee to the conference. 
• Participants MUST comply with the guidelines to be eligible for judging. Late submissions or submissions that are not in compliance will not be judged but may be eligible for People’s Choice.
• Participants may submit only ONE photo for each category (Creative and Forensic).
• First (1st) Place winners in each category WILL NOT be eligible to enter the contest the following year; however, they will have the option to participate as a judge the following year.
• Any subject matter may be used for the FORENSIC category (crime scene and evidentiary).
• The theme for the Creative category this year will be “What is Jersey Known For?" Use your imagination and creativity.
• Photographs may be in color or black and white.
• Entries MUST be printed and mounted on foam board with no borders, no frame, no matting; all sides MUST be at least 16" and no more than 24".
• An 8.5" X 11" photo contest entry label (provided upon registration) MUST be completed and mounted on foam board with no borders and submitted with your entry; description and technical data should contain no more than 100 words, 16 point font type.
• Individuals interested in entering photos for the Contest must submit their application online by September 11, 2026.
